Your own domain
Under Settings, "Your own domain", enter the hostname you want, like news.yourdomain.com. Pub shows two records to add at your DNS provider:
- A CNAME from your hostname to the address Pub gives you (it ends in cloudfront.net).
- A second CNAME that proves you control the domain, so a certificate can be issued for it.
Add both. Within an hour of them appearing, usually much sooner, the domain goes live on its own, with its own certificate. Links in your emails and feed switch to it; usepub.com/@you keeps working too.
Subdomain or bare domain?
A subdomain (news., letter., read.) works everywhere. The bare domain (yourdomain.com with nothing in front) only works if your DNS provider supports ALIAS or ANAME records at the root; Cloudflare, Route 53 and DNSimple do, many others don't. If in doubt, use a subdomain.
Your newsletters keep coming from your handle at mail.usepub.com, which is already set up for delivery. Sending from your own domain isn't offered yet.
