How the fee works

Pub is free to use. There are no plans and no monthly charge.

If you charge for subscriptions, readers pay through your own Stripe account. Stripe takes its usual processing fee from each payment, as it would anywhere.

Pub's fee: nothing until your paid subscriptions bring in $1,000 over 30 days. From then on Pub keeps 2% of each payment on subscriptions started through Pub, collected by Stripe as part of the payment, so there's nothing to pay separately. It's re-checked every day and drops back to nothing if revenue falls under the line.

Readers you bring over from Substack or anywhere else are never charged the fee, however much they pay.

For comparison, Substack keeps 10% from the first dollar.
